Derwent Water Pens
Derwent has top notch quality art products. These water pens seem to have good suction when filled up and durability, and easy to get water to the brushes with out having to do a whole lot of priming. Other water pens that I have purchased in the past that were cheaper and in time they had a leakage problem when filled up while in use. So far there has been no leaks and they appear to be able to stand up through heavy use. I think that the extra money is well worth it for a better product, and ease.

Great three-brush set for art on the go.
a while back i had purchased a single derwent water brush from my local art supply store and loved the portability and performance of the brush. so when i saw the price for a set of three here on amazon i had to buy them. These go for 17-19 dollars elsewhere.. so for around 9 dollars, this seemed like a great price. This set includes three different sizes; a small round brush (#1), a medium round (#2, this is my favorite and most used), and a small flat brush(#3). They do not leak water if you transport them when full (i keep them loaded up with water in a pencil case with other supplies) and the caps have 4 notches on them which keep them from rolling on a work surface. These are mainly filled with water but they can also be filled with some inks or ink washes (small amount of ink with water) if you would like to use them to add color that way. If you are looking to take watercolors, ink washes, or other water based art media on the go (like gouache), then i would definitely recommend this water brush set.

good but not great
These are good waterbrushes, but they aren't my favorite for a few reasons:- the valve that feeds the water into the brush seems to be very "open", meaning the brush gets flooded with water as you use the brushes. I tried using them with my Peerless watercolors (the ones that are on paper substrate) and the brush literally filled the paper with a huge blob of water. I know with some mediums (especially very dry watercolors) this is a benefit, but I'd rather have too little water than too much.- the brushes themselves are not well shaped. They aren't shaped to a point and therefore they don't really hold a fine tip.On the flipside, there is a big benefit to these pens, and that's the sizes of the brushes.Brush number three (the broad brush) is a PERFECT size (I guess the equivalent would be a size 6 flat brush). There isn't another waterbush like it on the market and for that reason alone, the set is worth it.These brushes will definitely get a lot of use, but I know when push comes to shove I'll continue to reach for my Pentels- much more control over water flow and the finely "sharp" tips seal the deal for me.

Best I’ve used
I have tried multiple brands of waterbrush, but this brand has turned out to be the best. It is shorter and the barrel is fatter than others. The caps fit tightly. The water flow is smooth and even. The brushes hold their shape. It’s all I use now for my urban sketching.

Waterbrush - A must have for watercolor artists....
Came across this waterbush product from a YouTube video instruction by one of Derwent's product managers, Sarah Taylor. They are fantastic! The set is perfect with the 3 tip selections as well. It does exactly what was represented in the video and I have already created several watercolor pencil art projects. I find they also work well in addition to watercolor paint projects. You can touch the tip of your pencil to the waterbrush and add very fine details to you paint projects. What I find convenient is that you can pack them in a case with paper, bring along a chair and some snacks, sit under a tree or at the beach and sketch out a project, waterbrush it and you hav a one step process project... thanks Derwent team for your design efforts in this product. Will recommend to my art friends next class so I hope you have more in stock soon!

Fan-freaking-tastic brush set!
So happy I found these! I have only tried them with watercolor pencils, watercolor markers, and watercolor pots. I can only imagine how well they will work with watercolor tubes and ink pigments. They have not leaked since I've filled them (i have left them on their side)!! They do take a little time to get used to as far as how hard to squeeze to get a constant flow without making a puddle or being too dry. The fill hole is a little on the small side which might be why they haven't leaked and why the flow is a bit on the tight side. I don't see this as a negative at all. The 3 different tip styles are an added bonus, really glad i didn't have to search for a chisel tip separately. Clean up is quick and easy because of the brush material.

Brushes Good for Backgrounds and Washes.
These are OK. I tried them because they had the three different brush heads. They work well but not as well as the Pentel if you like to use less water/have control over the water flow. These would be nicer for traditional water-coloring where you give up control of flow! But for illustrations, or anything requiring precision, I would choose the Pentel Aquash. I do like having the additional brush shapes and find these good for backgrounds and washes.

Really, I mean REALLY? How did I NOT know about these? Brilliant Solution- Great Product!
Why, oh why did I not know these existed before? Why? I draw with Prismacolor soft watercolor pencils all the time and have just been using my paint brushes, dip in water, use, normal whatever, but often I am working on a project on a lapboard in bed, so you've got this cup of water balancing precariously, and reaching back and forth, these completely solve that problem. They are also brilliant for when I am out and about or traveling, no mess. The set of three, fine, medium and chisel tips are all you need. They are easy to use, sturdy, a gentle squeeze gives enough water flow without having puddles of water. I am incredibly impressed. I told a friend about them, she ordered as well and loves them just as much as me.
