A must if portability and reliable connection to public wifi is essential.
This is one of the more significant purchases that I have made to assist me whilst travelling. Its abilities to tie all your devices onto one network as you would have at home has simplified things enormously. Its portability especially when connected to a power bank has made camping trips and using devices on guest wifi a breeze. You are also able to install your VPN onto it, so security can be built in and automatic. Initially the option wasn't available, but if you connect it to your home wifi, eventually a firmware update will be offered and it changes the feature set of the router entirely. It is probably the most versatile router I have owned, including my Eero at home. To illustrate how good it is, I arrived at a Holiday Park in Italy where signal was particularly weak. So much so where we were placed you couldn't sign into the network. I moved the router to where the signal was stronger and using the Tether app (the companion app for the device) I signed into the network, I then moved the router back to where I was staying and the router remained connected to the network. As I write I'm connected to the router via 5 devices, two laptops, two iPhones and an Alexa Speaker, all working with satisfactory speeds. It's removed the frustration. The perfect combination would be this router paired with a 20000mah power bank, which potentially will run the power bank for 24 hours rather that the 10-12hrs that my 10000mah power bank is achieving at the moment. I recommend this product without hesitation.

Does exactly as it says on the box
Bought this router as a temp as contract ended with last provider.Registered my new sim, popped it into my phone for a few mins then it went into the router.I had WiFi the minute the sim registration completed.Setting up is so very simple. The sticker on the back was a bit hard to see but that’s down to my sight more than anything else.I was able to change names and password in next to no time and my devices connected seamlessly. The router itself seems quite sturdy and very lightweight but that doesn’t seem to affect the performance. I get full coverage of my flat and the speeds aren’t as great as a hotspot from my phone but using the antenna provided I was still getting over 100Mbps. I’ve only streamed for a few hours but there has been no buffering or any lagging. For the price paid, this has exceeded my expectations and could possibly become a permanent router if my experience so far is anything to go by.

Solid router but firmware update doesnt work via app
I'm on virgin media, they gave me the hub 3 which is absolutely terrible. The wifi kept disconnecting. I complained and they sent me another hub 3 which was just as bad - the wifi kept dropping and I'd have to turn my wifi on and off and put up with stuttering MS teams calls. I suspected it was the wifi signal so I bought this. Setup was reasonably straight forward although the app is kinda basic. You have to put the virgin media hub into modem mode and then connect it to this router and then restart the virgin media hub otherwise it wont work - theres a youtube video on it basically if you search virgin media modem mode - its not the top one but theres one with a guy explaining you need to reset the modem in the correct order. I followed the app and after a little fiddling it worked and the connection has been solid non-stop. No more signal drops, no more MS teams issues. The ONLY criticism is the app on my phone doesnt seem to update the firmware even though it says it does. You begin an update, it completes and then it says the firmware is still outdated and hasn't been applied. It doesnt really make sense.

It's good but needs firmware updates first for easymesh
Works so far flawlessly as an AP and easymesh controller to tplink RE705X extender. Reasonably easy to set up after a lot of searching for information.Needs a firmware update to latest version which cannot happen without first updating with a previous version manually. The latest version gives the router easymesh capability.Easymesh must be enabled in both router and extender through the tplinkwifi.net or tplinkrepeater.net websites whilst connected to the appropriate SSID. Do not configure the extender as an extender or it will not work. Use WPS to create the mesh network. You'll know if it has worked there'll not be any ext WiFi signal just the routers SSID. It can be checked on the router website and the app.
